A Variety of Gifts…

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. (St. Paul, First Letter to the Corinthians 12:4-7).

We are a group of women graduates of Orthodox Theological Schools that have come together (with the blessing of SCOBA) to help harness the skills and knowledge of our women graduates in the service of the Church. A planning committee has been established and has been working for over three years. The goal of the committee is to identify women graduates, solicit their interests and participation, and to select and prioritize projects that will benefit the Church.

2007 Retreat

Save the the date for our next retreat! Open to women graduates of Orthodox Theological Seminaries.

The plans have been finalized for this upcoming retreat. The deadline for receiving the completed application form and payment is July 13, 2007. The application form and the retreat schedule can be found here.

Encountering Women of Faith: St. Catherine's Vision Collection Volume 1

This is an historic book, as it is a Pan-Orthodox initiative written collaboratively by the co-authors. An initiative blessed by SCOBA, this is also the first book written to honor women everywhere who have pursued Orthodox theological studies, as well as all women who have dedicated themselves to Christian service. The books is co-authored by members of the Board of St. Catherine's Vision (SCV), a working group of persons seeking to study and support the many ways women and men are called to serve within the life of the Orthodox Church today.

Did You Know…

There are nearly two hundred Orthodox women in North America who have received graduate degrees in Orthodox Theology, most from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology or St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological School.

These Orthodox women are committed to Christ and to His Gospel. They are also devoted to the life and historic teachings of the Orthodox Church.

They recognize the importance of Orthodox theology and theological education for the well being of the Church and its ministries in today's world.

Many today are active in ministries such as: teaching, spiritual direction, administration, chaplaincy, religious education, outreach, writing, pastoral counseling, mission, music, as well as theological and ecumenical dialogues.

Our women graduates believe that the Orthodox faith has much to offer those who seek a deeper relationship with Christ Our Lord.

They recognize that the Orthodox Church has a profound obligation to share the Gospel of Christ and its traditions of faith in our society today.

Women graduates hold in common a commitment to witness, education, and service through Orthodox theology and ministry, "for the building up the body of Christ" (Ephesians 4:12)
